So Much for the Afterglow
By Everclear
see relatedUntitled Numero Who Fucking Cares.
Headphones on,
World out;
Memory comes back
On dancer's feet,
Gliding through the door;
My age-old Mistriss
Comes dancing through the door
Singing songs of long-ago;
A time I worked so hard to forget.The funny thing about time
Is that it's never that far behind.I will never understand why I feel the need to torture myself with the sounds of long-ago. I will never understand why I feel the need to torture myself with the past. I just know that there's something comforting about drowning in misery. About remembering all the good and bad times until I can't stop the tears and the knife is hanging inches from my throat. I will never understand my need for misery.

Nice little piece. Good metaphors.
